I’m pleased to report that the Willing Warriors Retreat has invited all NVPS members to attend an open house on October 14, 2021, at 10:00 am. For new members, Willing Warriors is a retreat in Haymarket, VA providing an extended weekend for our veterans and their families recovering from service-related injuries. The facility is located at 16013 Waterfall Road, Haymarket, VA, and the web site is Willing Warriors. For the past two years, NVPS club members have been contributing photographs to decorate the walls of the two houses that comprise the retreat. To date we have installed approximately 95 images in the PenFed house thus completing this facility. We have also installed the first photographs in the Lang house. The open house event will include a presentation of the history of the Willing Warriors Program and a tour of the PenFed and Lang houses allowing you to see the installed work and the locations for future contributions.

For the Lang house the following types of images are still desired:
• Flower fields or closeups
• U.S. “Country” towns or villages
• U.S. old barns or buildings
• Images of U.S. cities
• Regional images of the DC urban areas
• Modern U.S military (all services) images for a collage in the game room
• Two large images of open subjects
• U.S. Waterfalls

As a reminder, donated photographs should be matted and framed to be no smaller than 11×14 dimensions (16×20 and 18×24 framed sizes are very desirable). There are walls that could benefit from more significantly sized images so,  if the photographer wishes, larger images such as canvas wraps or metal prints would also be useful.

If you have several pictures to consider, please send JPEGs in the NVPS electronic format (127 ppi, horizontal images to be 1400 pixels wide or vertical images to be 1040 pixels tall) to me at willingwarriors@nvps.org. I can then review them with the retreat’s representative to confirm selections.

When you have a finished a piece, just contact me at the above email to arrange a time and location for an exchange. Photographs of installed images are sent to the contributing photographer and posted in the NVPS Willing Warriors Gallery to share with all our members.

The contributions from NVPS have been much appreciated by the Willing Warriors staff, directors and most importantly the veterans and their families.

Thanks again.
