Image submission time for the Mid-Atlantic Photo Visions (MAPV) exhibit is open NOW and if you haven’t been looking at your image folders now is the time to get your entries uploaded.

MAPV 2026 Competition Schedule
- Wednesday, August 5 – Nature and Photo Art Competitions Open
- Wednesday, August 26 – Rejected images submitted after this date cannot be replaced
- Wednesday, September 2 – Last day to submit images
- Friday, September 4 – Judging begins
- Wednesday, September 23 – Judging ends
- Monday, September 28 – Accepted images announced
The MAPV Board works year-round to plan and implement this weekend for all of us photographers and constantly tweaks the format with the goal of making this a world-class experience for everyone. Please visit https://midatlanticphotovisions.org/schedule/ for a detailed look at this year’s program.
The event kicks off on Friday the 6th with an evening shoot around the Mall with Marie Joabar, and the main event will be held on November 7-8 at the George Mason University Mason Square campus in Arlington. There will be a terrific mix of speakers, hands-on workshops, off-site shoots, the photography exhibit and vendor tables. Block off those days on your calendars now, you don’t want to miss this event!

Image Sizing Instructions
There have been a couple of questions about the rules on sizing of entries and matting specs. Please follow the sizing instructions as outlined on the competition page under General Rules,
https://midatlanticphotovisions.org/competitions/ . Sizing is the same as for our club competitions. Regarding the matting instructions, without a visual it’s understandable that new members to the photography clubs can have questions. Our meetings for the club will resume the beginning of September and matting for competitions is usually one of the early subjects covered by Education and Training. There are also many members who will be available to help anyone who has questions. You will have time to get your accepted images printed and matted before they need to be delivered for the show.
Read the Rules and Pick Your Images Carefully
The images submitted to date have been reviewed and a few have been rejected for one reason or another. For images submitted to the Nature Competition, evidence of ‘Hand of Man’ continues to be primary issue. Any image that shows any manmade element is deemed ineligible for the category. This includes people, roads, fences, electric lines, groomed grass, trees obviously cut by a saw, etc.
One image submitted to Photo Art was of an animal and the review committee deemed that it should be entered into the nature category. Please read the rules carefully, if you think there might be a question make sure you enter soon.
If an image is submitted after August 26 and is rejected you will not be able to replace it with another image. The final submission date is September 2nd as judging starts on September 4.
