This is it everyone! The final Portfolio Review will be coming up on May 21 and we have a special surprise for you. Local photographer and workshop leader Brian Zwit has agreed to be our reviewer, www.brianjzwit.com. Many of you will remember the wonderful job Brian did as our reviewer for the 2016 Portfolio Project. We are lucky that he has agreed to come back this year.
It’s time to start wrapping up those final images and work on your presentation. As was stated before, we will have a digital presentation of everyone’s work, with the Artist Statement followed by 12 of your images, from which Brian will make his comments. For the final we will be going alphabetically by first name from Z to A. Be sure to put your best images in the gallery for the presentation, starting strong and ending strong. Review your Artist Statement, is it concise and easy to read, both in content and on the screen?
We’ll be putting the presentations on the back tables where we have members gallery so they can be viewed by everyone, and where you can discuss your work with other members.
The Portfolio Project is always a wonderful showcase of the talent, imagination and skill of the NVPS membership. We hope everyone will be there to celebrate and enjoy the presentation.
By the way, the next Photo Slam will be on June 9 in DC at ‘Busboys and Poets’. This could be an excellent venue for you to show your portfolio!
Check out the details at http://glenechophotoworks.org/2019/04/15/photo-slam-2019-the-event/ . The winner will be part of a show at Glen Echo this year. As per the website: “Content for entries is open, with no limitations as to theme or subject matter. Photographers working in both film- and digital-capture are encouraged to participate, though the format of the entries must be digital. Both black-and-white and color entries are encouraged. As stated above, entrants are strongly encouraged to organize their portfolios according to a unified theme or vision.”
The submission deadline for the Photo Slam is June 5 and the event will be on June 9.
What a timely event for your work!
