After more than 30 years specializing in architectural photography in Connecticut, Sandy Dimke and her husband, Russ, relocated to the Lowcountry of South Carolina, where she now focuses on fine art photography.
Sandy’s passion is capturing moments in creative and unexpected ways—through unique camera angles, compelling compositions, and imaginative post-processing techniques. A traveler at heart, she seeks to convey the beauty, and excitement of the world around her, whether photographing locally or destinations across the globe. She has traveled extensively throughout North America and to more than 75 countries.
Sandy is the author of two photography books, Hands Across the Lowcountry and The Cats of Beaufort. Her photograph Winter Façade was selected for the cover of Charleston Salt and Iron, while Southern Backseat Drivers appears on the cover of Along Southern Roads.
Her work has been juried into more than 35 in-person exhibitions throughout the United States. Internationally, her photographs have been accepted into more than 200 exhibitions in over 25 countries, earning numerous awards and honors.
A respected leader in the photographic community, Sandy recently retired as Chair of the Pictorial Print Division of the Photographic Society of America (PSA) Worldwide and is the incoming Chair of the PSA Honors Committee. She holds the APSA and PPSA distinctions. An accredited photography and art judge, Sandy has judged photographic competitions throughout the United States for more than 40 years.
In 2022, Sandy was inducted into the Fédération Internationale de l’Art Photographique (FIAP), where she earned the AFIAP distinction. She was juried into the National Association of Women Artists in 2019, received its Annual Photography Award in 2021, and most recently was honored with the South Carolina Chapter’s Best in Photography Award.
