Beanetics Exhibit Reception: The Colors of Death Valley by Anita Feidler

Artist Statement

“As I drove down Highway 190 in the middle of a December day, I saw a parched, washed-out landscape. I began to wonder why I chose to visit this desolate place where landmarks are named to evoke hell or the devil. 

But at the crack of dawn and as the sun set, I observed the beauty of Death Valley. I witnessed the play of golden light and blue shadows on wind-sculpted sand dunes. I followed the quickly moving alpenglow as it cast shades of rose, violet, and orange across badlands and rugged mountains. And I observed the patterns and jagged formations that reflected the many colors of sunrise and sunset in salt springs and vast salt flats.

By the end of my trip, I found Death Valley to be a place of unique beauty and diverse, colorful landscapes.”
