On January 23, one of Kirk Johnson’s photographs, titled “Dragonfly taking a breather” was selected as Photo of the Day on the Shutterbug.com website The article accompanying the photo says:
Today’s Shutterbug Photo of the Day is wonderful close-up of a dragonfly by Kirk Johnson. Johnson captured the image with a Nikon D3100 and 55-300 mm lens at the 300 mm focal length, 1/160 sec, f/5.6, ISO 400.
“The dragonfly is taking a ‘breather’ from a very busy day moving from plant, to twig, to flower,” Johnson writes. “Was having some difficulty photographing these elusive creatures with my macro lens, so I decided to ‘shoot’ the dragon fly from a distance. Seemed to work out quite well.”
Indeed it did!
