Miriam Lomaskin was born and raised in Miami and came to Washington DC in 1994 to pursue Deaf Education and Ethics at Gallaudet University after her Mother refused to allow her to attend the Corcoran College for Art and Design, for Photography. Miriam continued honing her skills as a photographer, picking up freelance jobs for print and online journals while working in the Finance departments for a Public Relation company and a Law Firm (don’t ask). In 2004 she landed a seasonal (with the races) job working for the Strategy Group as a Photographer for candidates running for office which she did in 2006 as well for Wampold Strategy, a Direct mail company in Washington DC. In 2005 she began working at America Online, AOL, as a News Photo Editor, and in 2007, after being laid off from AOL started a successful freelance business. In 2009 she began working as the Photographer for the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. She does not have a college degree, but does have one of the coolest dogs on the planet, which pretty much levels the playing field.
