Well, everyone, it’s official, we’ve made it to another new year. I hope you had a lovely holiday season and are ready to make 2024 a remarkable year for you and for your photography.

The first part of the NVPS year brought us wonderful speakers, educational opportunities, member presentations, and exciting competitions. The new year will be just as good.

In January, our first meeting will be on Zoom and the speaker will be Mike Moats addressing “The Properly Equipped Macro Photographer.”

For our second Tuesday, we again meet in person at the Dunn Loring Firehouse for Education and Training to hear Stan Bysshe talk about “How’s Your Storage.” Considering that I lost my primary hard drive last month and had two weeks of nail biting before it was restored, I am looking forward to learning better ways to protect my images. Meet us at the Silver Diner in Tysons Corner, 8101 Fletcher St., McLean, VA, at 5:30 p.m. before the meeting for dinner and socializing.

Our third Tuesday will be Competition on Zoom with our judge, Angie McMonigal. This will be a themed competition, “Natural Sand.” Be sure to check out the rules of competition on the NVPS website. You will remember Angie as our terrific speaker in December.

The fourth Tuesday will again be in person for Member’s Gallery and Forum. These evenings are a must see where we get to experience the work of other club members. This month’s Gallery will be

“A Tour of Dubai and World Expo 2020” with Judy Guenther, I’ll be showing my own prints on “What’s on My Walls,” and for Forum we will see “Into the Great Unknown: Grand Canyon River Rafting Photography Tour” with Art and Deb Rose. Remember to meet us ahead of the meeting at the Silver Diner for dinner at 5:30 p.m.

There is also a club field trip to the National Gallery of Art planned for January 20. Go to our NVPS website for details.

I hope you are looking forward to this year as much as I am!
