Education & Training: (In Person) Storytelling in Portrait Photography with Catherine Wang

January 14, 2025 @ 7:30 pm 9:00 pm

Description:

Storytelling in portrait photography is the art of conveying a narrative or emotion through a single image. It involves capturing more than just the subject’s appearance–using expressions, body language, environment, lighting, and props to create a deeper meaningful connection. Each element in the photograph works together to evoke a sense of story, inviting the viewer to interpret and engage with the subject’s experiences or emotions. In my presentation, I will share insights from my expereiences photographing a diverse range of individuals, illustrating how to achieve exceptional results through a step-by-step approach. A key focus will be on the strategic use of props–such as vintage accessories, musical instruments, or personal artifacts–to add depth and context to portraits, therebyenriching the storytelling aspect of the images.
