Education & Training
October 13, 2009 - Workshop, Education & Training: The Yin & Yang of Photoshop, with Scott Musson
Join NVPS for an educational event on the use of digital editing tools, with a focus on the Photoshop Creative Suite (CS3 &CS4). As the workshop title implies, this is a two part educational session.

Yin: the first part of the evening will be helping new members with basic image preparation for competition and helping intermediate members optimize their preparation technique--sizing, rotating, assigning profiles, bit depth conversion, saving and uploading to the clubs website.

Yang: the second part will focus on creative ways to support the NVPS competition theme of "Opposites".  Examples of digital editing techniques will be demonstrated to show you how to create opposites. Techniques such as montage, masking and other layer techniques will be demonstrated and you can follow along! We'll also discuss ideas for images that can you simply be captured in camera, without the use of digital editing techniques.

Members are welcome to bring their own laptops (on battery power) and follow along with either section of the workshop. Don't worry if you don't have a laptop; there will be sample images and instructions you can download from the website and try the techniques on your own after the workshop. For those members who do bring their laptop, there will be sample images posted to the website the week before the workshop.

So bring your Qi (chi or energy) and discover the Yin & Yang of Photography and Photoshop.

Tai Chi after the meeting is optional.
Click on the images below and save them to your computer. These images will be used to demonstrate several techniques using Photoshop. You can bring your laptop on battery power and follow along.  A document will be posted after the workshop to explain each technique.
