Programs
Mar 3rd, 2009 - Program Speaker: Michael Borek "Wide Asleep (Day), Half Awake (Night)"
Please join us for an evening filled with evocative images made by Michael Borek, a photographer with a truly distinctive vision. Michael is originally from Prague, in the Czech Republic; there, his photography primarily focuses on old, delapidated structures in which he is looking for poetic juxtaposition and real atmosphere. His photography from the USA focuses on his interpretations of Americana, which he combines with his love of the surreal and unexpected. Michael's extraordinary palette reflects a moody, interpretive version of what's "real", and on March 3, Michael will discuss some of the techniques that he employs in order to achieve the dream-like expressiveness found in his photographs. Michael's work can be seen currently at the "Multiple Exposures" gallery in the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, VA, and on his website at www.michaelborek.com. Michael will also be joining us for dinner at Chili's at 6 pm prior to the Program, so please rsvp to mary mary.m.o'neill@nospam!#*&^#)type address - don't copy spam protection(*@.@nospamgsk.com if you're planning to attend dinner
