October 30th, 2009 - Note to Portfolio Project Participants - Northern Virginia Photographic Society

Portfolio Participants,

As you are starting to put your portfolio together, you can post images to the NVPS Website to the Photo Gallery. Here other Portfolio participants will be able to comment on your images and provide input. Everyone will be able to view the images, but only Portfolio participants will have the right to comment.

Please send me your NVPS Photo Gallery user id (I don't need your password) and I will add a folder for your images in the 2009 - 2010 Portfolio Album and give you rights to upload to this new folder. I'll also provide you rights to comment on others portfolios. I'll also send you instructions on how to upload images to your new folder.

If you don't have a user id, it's very simple to register, just go to http://nvps.org/gallery and click "Register".

If you need help in any way, just let me know. I would also be happy to upload your images for you, just email them to me and name them including a number so I know what order you would like them to appear.

You should first image in your gallery should be your artist statement, just paste the text of your artist statement into an empty image. This is very important since people will be critiquing your portfolio based on your artist statement. This is one of the reasons why it's important to develop your artist statement first.

For those of you new to the project, I've added a folder with my artist statement from last year, and a couple of last year's images just to give you an idea.

Remember you can send your artist statement to Bill or Scott for feed back if you like.
