November 30th, 2010 - Portfolio Project Update - Northern Virginia Photographic Society

It's time to get the portfolio project in gear and to support that we are creating the new private NVPS Portfolio Photo Gallery that only members of the Portfolio project have access to until you have completed your portfolio. Please see information below on getting access to the portfolio gallery.

Coming up we have some events that you'll be interested in as you work on your portfolio. The January 25th, 2011 "Members Gallery" and "Forum" will be dedicated to the Portfolio Project. On March 29th, 2011 we'll have a critique for Portfolio particiapants. Additionally as you start to post your images in the gallery, you'll have the opportunity to have your portfolio critqued by participants and you can provide comments to others too.

Getting access to the NVPS Portfolio Photo Gallery

To get access to the NVPS Portfolio Gallery send your NVPS Gallery user id to Scott Musson musson@nospam!#*&^#)type address - don't copy spam protection(*@.@nospammindspring.com (I don't need your password). When you do, I'll give you access to see the other portfolios and create a place for your portfolio to be uploaded (not in the members area). I'll also provide you rights to comment on others portfolios and send you instructions on how to upload images to your folder.
If you don't have a user id, it's very simple to register, just go to http://nvps.org/gallery and click "Register".

If you need help in any way, just let me know. I would also be happy to upload your images for you, just email them to me and name them including a number so I know what order you would like them to appear.

Your should first image in your gallery should be your artist statement, just paste the text of your artist statement into an empty image. This is very important since people will be critiquing your portfolio based on your artist statement. This is one of the reasons why it's important to develop your artist statement first. If you need help getting your artist statement into a JPEG, you are welcome to send the text to smusson@nospam!#*&^#)type address - don't copy spam protection(*@.@nospammindspring.com and I'll help you with this.
