Portfolio Project
November 07, 2009 Portfolio Project Update

It has been brought to our attention by Ed Knepley and Joe Miller that the George Eastman House is advertizing their sixth sale of a portfolio by international photographers. We believe you will find the portfolio interesting http://www.eastmanhouse.org/portfolio.

We also highly recommend you checkout the following article on "How to Create a Portfolio" http://www.luminous-landscape.com/columns/portfolio-8.shtml. If you only read one article on how to create a portfolio, this is the one to read.

Several people have started posting images and their artist statement on the NVPS website. You'll need to send Scott Musson smusson@nospam!#*&^#)type address - don't copy spam protection(*@.@nospammindspring.com your NVPS Photo Gallery user id so you will be able to see other participants work. Even if you are way behind it's a great idea to get added to the portfolio Photo gallery group to get inspiration from your fellow portfolio participants. I've included the instructions below.

Getting access to the NVPS Portfolio Photo Gallery

Please send Scott Musson scottmusson@nospam!#*&^#)type address - don't copy spam protection(*@.@nospamscottmusson.com your NVPS Photo Gallery user id (I don't need your password) and I will add a folder for your images in the 2009 - 2010 Portfolio Album and give you rights to upload to this new folder. I'll also provide you rights to comment on others portfolios. I'll also send you instructions on how to upload images to your new folder.
If you don't have a user id, it's very simple to register, just go to http://nvps.org/gallery and click "Register".

If you need help in any way, just let me know. I would also be happy to upload your images for you, just email them to me and name them including a number so I know what order you would like them to appear.

You should first image in your gallery should be your artist statement, just paste the text of your artist statement into an empty image. This is very important since people will be critiquing your portfolio based on your artist statement. This is one of the reasons why it's important to develop your artist statement first.

Remember you can send your artist statement to Bill or Scott for feed back if you like.
