Portfolio Project
April 07, 2011 - NVPS Portfolio Project Update

We're coming down to the wire with only 12 days left to complete your portfolio

Remaining Project Schedule

April 19th, 2011 - Collect digital portfolios for judge
May 10th, 2011 - Final portfolio presentation, bring your printed portfolio

The May 11th critique was a great preview and everyone is excited to see the final product, both in digital and in print. If you have any questions or need any advise, please feel to reach out to any of us portfolio coordintors at nospam!#*&^#)type address - don't copy spam protection(*@.@nospamnvps.org">portfolio@nospam!#*&^#)type address - don't copy spam protection(*@.@nospamnvps.org.

Turn in your Slide Show Portfolio

Post your Slide Show Portfolio to the NVPS Portfolio Gallery no later than April 19th, 2011. Please review the guidance for file naming, size limitation, etc. below.  The first slide in your deck should be the artist statement.  If you need any help with getting the text of your artist statement into a Jpeg for the slideshow, feel free to send it to us, and we would be happy to assit you.

The following are the parameters for the digital portfolio:

Number of Images

  • The Slide Show Portfolio is a not-to-exceed 15 images plus your artist statement for a total of 16 images
  • If you have more than 15 printed images, you should include your 15 best.
  • You do not need to have 15 images in your portfolio, only include the best and those that support your artist statement.  12 great images is better that 15 images where a few of them are not as strong.
  • Your printed portfolio can contain as many images as you like

File Naming

  • Name your files with your first and last name followed by a 2 digit number in the sequnece you want them to be shown. Please include leading zeros so the file names will sort in numerical order. Example:
    • John Doe 01.jpg, John Doe 02.jpg...John Doe.15.jpg
  • To check and change the file names go to Item Actions/Edit Photo/General Tab and change the "NAME" attribute (questions?  please ask!)
  • Follow NVPS competition guidelines for preparing your slides

File Requirements

  • File Type: All images will be submitted as jpeg files. (not jpeg2000)
  • Image Size Limitations: no larger than 1024 pixels horizontal and 768 pixels vertical. If your image is smaller than 1024 x 768, fill the background with black for optimal presentation in the slide show.
  • Color Space: for optimal viewing, the file workspace should be sRGB. (In Adobe Photoshop, use the "Convert to Profile" command under the Edit menu). Use of other profiles are not optimal for projection.

The final printed portfolios will not be collected, but each participant will be required to bring their printed Portfolio the May 10th meeting.

This Years Critic

We have a new critic this year who will crtique the portfolios.  We'll be sending out the info on this person shortly along with a bio.  We've got one of the best again this year.
