Laura Howell
Laura Howell began pursuing her interest in photography many years ago - but only during the past seven years has she taken a serious interest in her favorite hobby. Since her focus on photography, Laura has become a distinguished and award-winning photographic artist.

Her pursuit of the photographic arts is "a search for those powerful opportunities when light, detail and perspective unite to produce an evocative image of moment and meaning."

Laura is an active member of the League of Reston Artists, the Vienna Photographic Society (Publicity) and the Northern Virginia Photographic Society. She works in both color and black and white to create images that encompass a diverse variety of styles and subjects.

Primarily a self-taught photographer, her education includes photography courses from the Northern Virginia Community College as well as several workshops from well-respected photographers.

Her unique images have won numerous awards with the Vienna Photographic Society, the Northern Virginia Photographic Society the League of Reston Artists and the Vienna Arts Society. Her image, "Burke Lake Reflection", was chosen for 43 guestrooms at The Westin Hotel in Washington, DC.

Her work is currently on display at Windrush Gallery & Gifts in Fairfax, Virginia.

Bill Von Holle

Bill has been a member of NVPS for the last eight years. He has a Ph.D. and worked at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory before coming to D. C. to work for the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board. Only since joining NVPS has he begun to develop his photography as an art form, although he has made photographic records of family activities for many years. He is now all digital with a Pentax DSLR and a Panasonic point-and-shoot and loves to learn about photographic techniques and improve his skills. Although he enjoys travel and other forms of photography, nature is his first love. Bill has had prints juried into the last two Meadowlark shows and recently made the top five in the NVPS portfolio project.
