{"id":7542,"date":"2015-06-24T18:25:30","date_gmt":"2015-06-24T22:25:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nvps.org\/home\/?p=7542"},"modified":"2017-04-04T10:35:28","modified_gmt":"2017-04-04T14:35:28","slug":"fairfax-county-park-authority-park-photography-permit-changes-effective-july-1-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nvps.org\/home\/fairfax-county-park-authority-park-photography-permit-changes-effective-july-1-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"Fairfax County Park Authority: Park Photography Permit Changes Effective July 1, 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The 2015 requirements for commercial photographers conducting business in local parks and the start-up of an Ambassadors Club for photographers go into effect as of <span data-term=\"goog_1324634208\">July 1, 2015<\/span>.\u00a0 The changes to the permits reflects concerns aired by commercial photographers regarding costs for permitting and the Fairfax County Park Authority Board\u2019s decision to continue to implement fees for those conducting business in parks. \u00a0The Park Authority is authorized by Virginia Code \u00a715.2-5704:\u00a0 Powers of Authority and \u00a715.2-5709:\u00a0 Rates and Charges to promulgate Business Activity Licenses and Fees.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Recreational photographers are <strong>not<\/strong> impacted by the permitting requirement.\u00a0 However, on <span data-term=\"goog_1324634209\">July 1, 2015<\/span> all commercial photographers conducting business in FCPA at park properties must have an annual Photographer\u2019s Permit.\u00a0 The $25 permit can be purchased online by credit card.\u00a0 For information about annual permits and a link to purchase visit online at<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fairfaxcounty.gov\/parks\/press\/photography-permit.htm\">http:\/\/www.fairfaxcounty.gov\/parks\/press\/photography-permit.htm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The commercial photography permit has been in place since 2011. The fee defrays the costs of the impact to the parks including but not limited to:\u00a0 staffing cost for management of the activity, staff cost to prepare the area, damage to flora, interruption of programming and removal or destruction of park furnishings.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Our most popular sites for working photographers include Green Spring Gardens, Colvin Run Mill, Sully Historic Site and Ellanor C. Lawrence Park.\u00a0 While the annual fee covers more than 400 parks in the system, reservations at these four sites have fees based on the size of the group, and the impact on the photo location.\u00a0 For more information about photo permits call <a href=\"tel:703-324-8516\">703-324-8516<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For small group photo sessions (total of 11 people or less, including photography staff), no additional fees or site Photo Session Reservations are necessary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For groups of 12-19 people (including photography staff), a Photo Session Reservation (with additional fees) is required.
