Bill Von Holle has been an active member of NVPS for 15 years. He is an avid amateur photographer, specializing in wildlife and travel photography. His interest in photography began as a teen when he used his Dad’s Brownie to take B&W negatives and set up a dark room in the basement to develop and print. Since then he made numerous color slides and prints of his growing family as they lived in various parts of the country. He and Beth have four children, each born in a different state! More recently, Bill renewed his interest in photography when he joined the NVPS. Through help from the NVPS competitions, expert lectures, and hands-on demonstrations, he hascontinuously improved of his photography skills. Bill has won numerous awards in the monthly and the end-of-year competitions, as well as having had several prints juried into the Nature’s Visions and previously Meadowlark Photography shows. He currently shoots with a Pentax K-5 II and an underwater point and shoot with several lenses to cover the range of 10 to 300 mm, including a macro and a 50 mm portrait lens. He is retired from government service after 20 years as a scientist with the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board staff and at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He volunteers part time at the Smithsonian Natural History Museum shooting macrophotography of small specimens in the Invertebrate Zoology Department.<\/p>\n
