\nPast President of the Baltimore Camera Club 6\/06-8\/2010<\/p>\n
Karen Messick is award-winning photographer. She has been capturing images for 19 years. Her sense for
\ndesign, color, composition and placement of subject elements is striking. The patterns in her
\nnature close ups are refreshing and energizing. In addition to traditional photography she has
\nembraced imaging with High Dynamic Range software, and artistic adaptations of her images
\nwith plug-in software.
\nKaren has led photo workshops in Baltimore, Delaware, New Mexico, Virginia, Washington DC
\nand Ireland. She has lectured on composition and design during Photo Week in Washington, DC
\nand for Nature Vision\u2019s Photo Expo in Virginia.
\nKaren is self taught and has participated in photographic workshops with professional nature
\nphotographers, John and Barbara Gerlach, Doug Johnson and Tim Cooper. In addition, she has
\nattended photographic seminars by The Nikon School, Rod Plank, Brenda Tharp, Moose
\nPeterson, Tony Sweet, Rick Sammons, John Barclay and John Sexton.
\nKaren has written instructional articles and had portfolio pieces published in iPhoneLife
\nMagaizne and Nature Photographer Magazine. Currently she is a field contributor for Nature
\nPhotographer Magazine.
\nKaren teaches Intro to digital photography and iPhone Photography at Johns Hopkins University,
\nin the Odyssey Program.
\nKaren has conducted workshops and lectures for Penn Camera, Horizon Photography Workshops
\nand Capital Photography Center.
\nShe currently has images on Display at Baas Fine Art Gallery in Seattle, Washington and More
\nThan Fine Framing in Ruxton, Md.
