The critical element of every photograph. When is the BEST light for a subject? In\u00a0this presentation we will look at how to make stunning photographs by studying the light<br \/>\nwith a critical eye. We will discuss the photographer\u2019s light clock, quality of light and the\u00a0effect light has on a subject. The objective is to be able to scrutinize the light in an<br \/>\nanalytical way before taking that award-winning photograph. Examples will be used\u00a0from images taken by the presenter at different times during the day. Similar subjects<br \/>\nwill be explored showing different qualities of light and direction to emphasize the basic\u00a0principles of \u201cshooting the light.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Short Bio<\/p>\n<p>Dennis Govoni has been doing nature photography for nearly 50 years. He is a trained\u00a0biologist and botanist with advanced degrees in those areas. He was a college professor for 10 years before moving into the computer industry. His photographic<br \/>\ninterests are in Macro, Landscape and Wildlife photography with an occasional dappling\u00a0in non-nature photography of interesting subjects related to architecture, history and\u00a0general pictorial subjects.<\/p>\n<p>He has also been a primary photographer for a children\u2019s book series on\u00a0nature by a local author. The first book in the series, \u201cInsects and Spiders\u201d has just been published. He is now working on the second book, \u201cSand and Shore.\u201d Recently he has contributed to a state-wide project in West Virginia called \u201cThe West Virginia 150 Project\u201d. The images in this project are from every county in that state.
