\nDeadline:\u00a0 September 30, 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Photoworks Exhibit Committee invites you to submit a proposal for a group or solo photography exhibition in 2014 at Photoworks Gallery<\/a> in historic Glen Echo Park.\u00a0 Proposals must be received on or before the September 30, 2013 deadline.<\/p>\n

Photography Exhibition Dates:<\/h3>\n
    \n
  • Exhibit 1:\u00a0 January 10 – February 18, 2014<\/li>\n
  • Exhibit 2:\u00a0 May 9 – June 16, 2014<\/li>\n
  • Exhibit 3:\u00a0 September 5 – October 13, 2014<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Please list date preferences in your proposal letter.<\/p>\n

    Deadline for Exhibit Proposal Submissions:\u00a0 SEPTEMBER 30, 2013
    \nNotification of Acceptance: October 18, 2013<\/p>\n

    All Submissions Must Include:<\/h3>\n

    1.\u00a0 Photo Proposal:\u00a0 One page description of the photo proposal and a short artist bio<\/p>\n

    2.\u00a0 Images:\u00a0 Ten to fifteen images labeled with the number, artist name and image title.\u00a0 For example:\u00a0 01_Keating_Karen_Reaching for the Light.jpg<\/p>\n

    3.\u00a0 Image List:\u00a0 One “Image List” that includes artist name, image title, medium, and dimensions of framed work.\u00a0 (Please save this file as a .doc file – no .docx files).<\/p>\n

    4.\u00a0 Image Sizing Requirements:<\/p>\n

    a. Portrait: no larger than 500px wide by 700px tall; 72ppi; sRGB; .jpg quality=8<\/p>\n

    b. Landscape:\u00a0 no larger than 1000px wide by 700px tall; 72ppi; sRGB; .jpg quality=8<\/p>\n

    c. Square:\u00a0 no larger than 700px wide or tall; 72ppi; sRGB; .jpg quality=8<\/p>\n

    5.\u00a0 Publicity Shot:\u00a0 For publicity in print media, Photoworks marketing staff will need images 5″x7″ at 300ppi.<\/p>\n

    6.\u00a0 Electronic Proposal Submission:\u00a0 Interested applicants can submit proposal and images to: photoworks.gallery@gmail.com<\/p>\n

    8.\u00a0 Proposal Submission Fee:\u00a0 There is no fee for submission.<\/p>\n

    9.\u00a0 Important Notes:<\/p>\n

    a. Proposals will be selected by Photoworks Exhibition Committee.<\/p>\n

    b. Proposals may be submitted as a group or individual artist.<\/p>\n

    c. Exhibitions selected may be for solo, two or three person exhibit.<\/p>\n

    10. Artist Responsibilities:<\/p>\n

    a.\u00a0 Selected artists will be responsible for $600 for exhibition costs.\u00a0 Check made payable to Photoworks.<\/p>\n

    b.\u00a0 Artists are required to attend a organizational meeting with Photoworks Exhibition Director approximately two (2) months prior to the exhibit.<\/p>\n

    c.\u00a0 For electronic publicity purposes, artist must provide a jpg image, a two or three line statement describing the work and an email list of artists\/guests for exhibit announcements.<\/p>\n

    d.\u00a0 Work must be professionally presented and ready to hang.<\/p>\n

    e.\u00a0 Artist must prepare labels for walls and handouts with statement, brief bio, price.<\/p>\n

    f.\u00a0 Each artist must work with Exhibition Director to schedule an Opening Reception and Gallery Talk.\u00a0 Artist is responsible for food, drinks, paper products, etc.<\/p>\n

    g.\u00a0 Card design and distribution is optional.<\/p>\n

    h.\u00a0 Sales Policy:\u00a0 Artist receives 70% of sale, Photoworks receives 30% of sale.\u00a0 A 6% Maryland Sales Tax must be added at point of sale.<\/p>\n

    11. Photoworks Responsibilities:<\/p>\n

    a.\u00a0 Professional hanging of exhibition<\/p>\n

    b.\u00a0 Signage for exhibition<\/p>\n

    c.\u00a0 Publicity will include: Email blast to Photoworks database and artist guest list, announcing exhibition and reception\/gallery talk.<\/p>\n

    d.\u00a0 The exhibit will be listed on Photoworks website, facebook page, and Glen Echo Park’s Newsletter, website and facebook page.<\/p>\n

    e.\u00a0 Photoworks will write and distribute press release with artist information to local print and social\/online media<\/p>\n

    f.\u00a0 Photoworks will secure required liquor license for Opening Reception<\/p>\n
