Many of our members have explored Great Falls from the VA side and have produced some wonderful award-winning images. \u00a0But, now it’s time to go over the river and through the woods to explore the\u00a0Maryland side of Great Falls. \u00a0At this time of year we should have great Fall colors as we explore the\u00a0C&O canal, Great Falls and for the adventurous people, the Billy Goat Trail and Mather Gorge. \u00a0The Park Service link \u00a0is:\u00a0http:\/\/www.nps.gov\/choh\/index.htm<\/a>\u00a0for information about the C&O. \u00a0There is a fee of $5\/vehicle for entry to the park so carpooling is encouraged.\u00a0 Details for carpooling and the meet up location will be coming soon. \u00a0If you would like to sign up for this trip or have any questions, please contact Chuck and Tom, the field trip coordinators at\u00a0field-trip@nvps.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Although the official opening time for the park is 7:00, it\u2019s almost always open early. \u00a0So our estimated time of arrival at the park is 6:45am. \u00a0Sunrise that day is 7:22. \u00a0We plan to meet in front of the Great Falls Tavern Visitors Center. \u00a0Details for carpooling will be coming soon. \u00a0If you would like to sign up for this trip or have any questions, please contact Chuck and Tom, the field trip coordinators at field-trip@nvps.org.<\/p>\n
