The Montgomery County Fair is a great end-of-summer event and club members have enjoyed it in the past.  This year we will be going on a weekday and will concentrate on the midway and rides after dark.  The fair gives us the opportunity to photograph not only the bright lights and action of the rides, but the many carnival games, concession stands and the people enjoying the fair, eating the food and carrying the prizes they have won. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will meet just inside the main entrance at 7 p.m..  Look\/walk right when you\u2019ve passed through the main entrance for your field trip coordinators and members either standing or sitting at picnic tables.  We\u2019ll arrive in daylight so we can survey the midway; the sun will set about an hour later.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When:<\/strong>

Tuesday, August 13, 2024 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wednesday, August 14, 2024 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. (rain date)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fair hours are noon to 11 p.m. so you are welcome to come early and\/or stay later<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parking and tickets:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Onsite parking (which does not include fair admission) is $15 per car.  There should be plenty of parking, but anticipate some heavy traffic as you near the fair.  Carpooling is a good option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Free parking with free shuttle service is available from (1) the Rockville Campus of Montgomery College; and (2) Lakeforest Mall.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tickets to the fair are $12 online, $15 at the gate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Equipment<\/strong> and Notes<\/strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Tripods are essential for after dark photography.  Find spots that are not heavy in pedestrian traffic to avoid patrons tripping over your gear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Wide angle lenses (24-70mm or wider) will work great, but you will also want to bring something with a little extra reach (70-200mm) for longer range candid photography.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Wear comfortable walking shoes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Bring extra cash for drinks and snacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
