April is upon us with its great weather and fantastic photography for NVPS members. I strongly encourage you all to attend the meetings each week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can you believe that it has been over three years since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic? I can emphatically state that this club has more than adapted to its challenges and continues to thrive due to the dedicated commitment of our members and volunteers. Thank you for \u201changing tough\u201d with NVPS and celebrating the achievements of each of our fellow photographers\u2014including YOU!<\/p>\n\n\n\n


On April 4, we welcome award\u2013winning commercial photographer Jennifer Pottheiser will present \u201cPhoto Biz 101\u201d to explain the business side of photography. Anyone who has ever been interested in making photography a business should definitely attend this presentation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Education & Training on April 11 will be the final review of group one of the Portfolio Project with portrait photographer Nicol Hockett. This should be a great evening and I want to thank our Portfolio co-chairs, Ginger Werz\u2013Petricka and Brenda Wilson, joined by Deb Rose, for their hard work and dedication with the portfolio project this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our field trip is scheduled for April 15 with a visit to Hillwood Estate, Museum, and Garden, in northwest DC. To learn more about these programs and events visit the NVPS Events Calendar<\/a> on our website. <\/p>\n\n\n\n


On April 18, we welcome biologist\u2013turned\u2013photographer Samantha Stephens who will be judging our non\u2013themed competition. If you have questions or need guidance, please see the Rules of Competition<\/a>. Remember that we only have April and May competitions left this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


For Member\u2019s Gallery on April 25 Willa Friedman will present \u201cNostalgia\u2014Field Trips Before Covid.\u201d Suzy McIntire and Phyllis Kimmel are teaming up for a presentation on \u201cStreet Photography.\u201d The evening will conclude with the Member\u2019s Forum presentation by Rena Schild on \u201cHaving a Ball with Sports Photography.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Our festivities in June will include the NVPS End\u2013of\u2013Year Awards Ceremony which will again be done via ZOOM on Friday, June 9. Then on Saturday, June 10, we invite you to participate in the End\u2013of\u2013Year Picnic at Burke Lake Park (same location as last year). Stay tuned for more information on these events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
