\"\"<\/a>I think most of us agree that the holidays\u2015whether it be Hannukah, Christmas, or Kwanzaa\u2015are a favorite time of year for each of us and our loved ones. The holidays tend to put us in a festive mood with lights and decorations, as well as the chance to gather with our families, friends, and co-workers. With a little luck we might see some snow in December which will help create a winter wonderland and a canvas for beautiful photographs.<\/p>\n

On December 6 we welcome back photographer, digital artist, gardener, and educator, Lisa Langell (currently living in Scottsdale, Arizona), who will present \u201cThe Process to Perfection,\u201d a live session in which she will highlight techniques for processing NVPS members\u2019 images in a variety of ways from traditional to artistic, black-and-white, creative, and more. Members will be asked to submit one image which will be processed by Lisa as time allows.<\/p>\n

Our Field Trip on December 10 will be an evening \u201cWinter Walk of Lights\u201d at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Vienna. To learn more about these programs and events visit the NVPS Events Calendar<\/a> on our website.<\/p>\n

On December 14 Education & Training has arranged for Judy Graham to do a presentation titled \u201cMy Approach to Landscape Photography.\u201d Greg Holden will be judging our open\u2013themed competition on December 20. If you have questions or need guidance, please see the NVPS Rules of Competition<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Due to the holidays we will not be meeting on December 27 and there will be no Member\u2019s Galleries or Forum. Meetings will resume on January 3.<\/p>\n

On a final note, the holidays for me are a time for reflection on all that occurred in 2022. I am grateful for many things\u2015my family, my health, getting to retirement, and NVPS which is certainly high on my list. NVPS has made me a better photographer these past 12 years and has afforded me some lasting friendships. I want to thank each and every one of you for your friendship and participation in the club.  Many thanks, too, for the hard work of our board members and volunteers.<\/p>\n

Holiday wishes to you and your loved ones and a fervent desire that each of you takes the time to look ahead to great photo opportunities in 2023.<\/p>\n
