Spring is finally and officially here.  As I write this, however, it is a cold and gloomy day \u2013 great for bundled-up black and white photography or a big cup of hot chocolate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We begin April with a presentation by Nic Stover titled \u201cPsychology of Photography.\u201d   Nic created the Psychology of Photography as a way of helping photographers to think beyond the basics of taking pictures and into the world of creating images.  It promises to be a different and interesting approach to photography.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our Education and Training meeting will feature the first final review of Portfolio Project (PP) submissions, with Brian Zwit as our guest reviewer.   Brian brings a great deal of experience to the final judging of our Portfolio Program and we are delighted to have him back with us this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The judge for our competition will be Denise Silva.  Denise has judged our competitions several times over the past few years and always does a great job.  The theme for this competition is Fountains. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remember that we have revised the rules of competition for this year only, and have included the revised rules on the website. To find them go to the website\u2019s \u201cHome\u201d page, click on \u201c(Member Menu)\u201d and \u201cCompetitions->Rules of Competition\u201d.   Please review the rules carefully before you submit your images.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our field trip will be at the Enid Haupt Garden at the Smithsonian Castle between 7 AM and 9 AM.   The Garden is at the center of the city block framed between 12th St. and 7th St. SW and Independence Ave and Jefferson Dr SW.  Included in this block are a number of iconic and unique structures that should provide excellent photographic opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mike Kane and Judy Guenther will offer Members Gallery presentations on Maine and Passion for Architecture, respectively, and Mike Whalen will present a Members Forum titled \u201cThe Soul of Southern Spain.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
