Biography<\/h1>\nBiography<\/h1>\nMary Ann graduated from the Washington School of Photography a few years before retiring from her human resources management profession, proving that it’s never too late to follow your dream.\u00a0 With a studio in her home, she worked as a part-time professional photographer concentrating on portrait and boudoir photography.\u00a0 After retirement, her energy shifted to fine art photography and she concentrated on learning Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter quickly becoming known for her \u201cdigital magic.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mary Ann has won numerous awards within the Northern VA area including \u201cBest in Show\u201d in a Vienna Photographic Competition, \u201cEqual Award\u201d at Alexandria\u2019s Art League at the Torpedo Factory, five \u201cPrints of the Year\u201d and two \u201cPhotographer of the Year\u201d awards in the Northern VA Photographic Society, and \u201cFirst Place\u201d in the 2009 AAA Magazine Annual Photo Competition.\u00a0 She was both guest and substitute host on the cable TV show \u201cPhotographers of Northern Virginia\u201d, featured in the e\u2019lan Art Magazine, juried into several fine art and abstract competitions, and in February was awarded an \u201cHonorable Mention\u201d in the Herndon ArtSpace Fine Art Photography Exhibit.\u00a0 In March she had a solo exhibit for the community and public in the Lodge of the Shenandoah Active Adult Community.\u00a0 She has also served in various leadership roles including VP for Competitions, Board Member, and President of the Northern VA Photographic Society.<\/p>\n

While Photo Art is her love, you will find her still providing photography and digital imaging services on occasion and is in her eighth year of judging photo competitions in the metropolitan DC area, but she is best known in her community as an eager photographer who, nearly ten years ago, originated and still leads the Shenandoah Photography Club.<\/p>\n

Scenes, details, narratives or moods. Subtle tones or Technicolor daydreams, color must be a primary component of your image.
