“Most of my photos are grounded in people. I look for the unguarded moment, the essential soul peeking out, experience etched on a person’s face.”

The 2022-2023 NVPS club year is off to a really good start due to your participation and the hard work of all our volunteers and board! Look at what we have accomplished in just our first month, despite not being able to hold our weekly meetings in person.
October kicks off will Jennifer King who will be making a presentation on “The Fine Art of Black and White Photography.” For Education & Training we welcome back Renée Comet who will be giving us valuable tips on culinary photography titled “Eating With Your Eyes.” Our second competition on October 18 again has an open theme. The last Tuesday meeting includes great Member’s Galleries from Len Johnson on “Brown Bears in Alaska” and Bob Friedman on “COVID Projects to Keep Me Sane.” This will be followed by Art and Deb Rose who will provide a Member’s Forum titled “Traveling the Mother Road: A Route 66 Road Trip.” Our field trip this month is to the Farms of Loudoun County with Roger Lancaster on Oct 22. Please mark your calendars for this event planned by our great Field Trip team of Steve Glintz and Rena Schild.
I’m happy to hear that NVPS members are traveling once again to take some amazing photographs. If you have not done so in the past, please share your images on NVPS’s Facebook private social group. We would love to see them! If you do not belong to this FB group, please click on this link NVPS Facebook Group and request to join.
In order to better protect our club’s email contacts list, we have moved our Board Contact information to a secure location that requires members to use a special log on (similar to uploading images into monthly competitions). Each of us must be alert to “phishing” and “scamming” attempts to steal information or resources. I, myself, faced an attempted scam recently from someone who contacted me through my photography website. Even though it seemed legitimate initially, it quickly became clear that it was not. I urge each of you to protect yourselves and be alert. The Board thanks you for taking this extra step in accessing the club email contact for our board members’ addresses.
See you on Tuesday night and keep those shutters clicking!
