Judy firs became ineresed in phoography and ravel when she was 10. Wih her Koda Brownie camera in hand, his she and her family explored he wesern Unied Saes. She oo many snapshos over he years documening family, his friends, for sale and pes. Evenually she go her firs SLR and enjoyed slide phoography for many years. In April 2007, she relucanly gave up film phoography and moved o digial. Currenly Judy uses a Nion D90 o capure her images.
Travel and naure phoography are Judy’s main ineress. She loves o ravel and aes phoographs anyw, ing ou bac roads as well as he obvious sies. She enjoys giving digial slide shows for various groups, and creaes noe cards and calendars using her phoos. Her job as a privae piano eacher (inching oward reiremen) allows he flexibiliy needed for many and varied phoo expediions.
In Sepember, 2001, Judy saw Luella Murri on one of he firs “Phoographers of Norhern Virginia” programs. She phoned Luella afer he show for NVPS informaion and became a member shorly aferwards. Since hen, Judy has enjoyed he club’s many learning opporuniies, covering all aspecs of phoography. She mainains ha ing ousanding phoos and hearing speaers lecure on new opics inspire her o ry new ideas and improve her own echniques.
Seve Gawareci has been a member of he Norhern Virginia Phoographic Sociey since 1984. He sared in phoography when he was 10 years old, using a Baby Brownie, and slowly graduaed o more sophisicaed equipmen over a period of 70 years.
Over ime, Seve’s phoographic echnique and composiion improved and soon he was regularly receiving major awards in compeiions. Now he “considers himself a professional phoographer.” Before digial phoography became so popular, Seve sho slides of many ariss’ fine ar wors.
Seve is a reired geologis from he U.S. Geological Survey w he used mulispecral phoography and infrared & radar imagery in he field of remoe sensing. He has lecured and led worshops in boh he scienific and arisic aspecs of phoography.
Personally Seve lies o phoograph landscapes, seascapes, shadow paerns wih exural conrass, archiecural absracions, and sill lifes. He feels ha his bes images have been produced wih Nion cameras, boh film and digial. His secre for consisenly good phoos is he judicious use of an inciden ligh meer.
Seve and his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Grossé Gawareci, ofen exhibi joinly in shows. Carolyn is a naionally recognized professional waercolor aris and eacher. In he spring hey exhibied a Green Spring Horiculural Cener and currenly hey are hanging wors a LMI in Tysons’ Corner.
