JUDY GUENTHER, photographer, enjoys capturing scenes from her world travels in a variety of styles from storytelling to discovering small details in ordinary scenes. Capturing the beauty and art in nature and the people of the world is a special joy for her. Judy also enjoys photographing details in architecture and looking for abstracts. She shoots with an Olympus OMD-EM1 Mark II with a variety of lenses and is also enjoying her new Apple 11 Pro Max. Judy enjoys the creativity of post-processing using a variety of tools and packages. She has been a member of NVPS for the past 5 years, is a member of The Art League Gallery of Alexandria, Va., and the F11 Women’s Photography Collective.  Her web site is www.judyguentherphotography.com 

For the May Member’s Digital Gallery Judy will be sharing images from a summer 2019 trip to the South of France and Switzerland titled “Heat Wave in Europe.”

Kirk Johnson – Bio

Since joining NVPS in August 2012, Kirk Johnson has been taking digital photographs of a variety of subjects, including architecture, street and urban, wildlife, portrait, black-and-white, floral and abstract.

Kirk’s camera of choice is the Nikon D7100 and on occasion, he uses his LG G7 smartphone for those unexpected photo images.  Kirk uses a variety of post-processing tools: Photoshop CS6, NIK Collections, Topaz Studio, Portrait Professional 18, and Photomatix. Kirk has been recognized internationally, nationally, and locally with a variety of photographic awards including 2019 International Annual Photography Award – Honorable Mention in Wildlife Category; 2017 International Fine Arts Photography Award (FAPA) – Nominee Award for Abstract photography; the Great American Country  (GAC) – Hunt for Americana Photo Contest – United States Southern Region Finalist – in 2014; numerous NVPS monthly competition awards.  Additionally, his photographs have appeared in Outdoor Photography Magazine.com, Bliss Magazine and twice in Shutterbug.com “Photo of the Day.”

Kirk, who retired from the U.S. Navy in 1999 as a Lieutenant Commander, currently lives in Alexandria, Virginia with his wife, Leslie and their dog, Casey.   Presently, Kirk is Staff Director working for the federal government in Washington, D.C.
