On February 12 we will be having an Education and Training session on Portrait Lighting with Jim Jenkins, a professional lighting instructor who also presented last year.
In this session we will be working through single and two light portraits with minimal lighting equipment. The focus will be controlling light with reflectors and found surfaces and sources of light as well as working with existing available light. As an example, we will be doing a portrait photo using only two light sources and using a simple, inexpensive 5 in1 reflector for a background.
We would like to have 4-6 volunteers who will have a chance to try the set ups using their own camera and a single speedlite flash unit. The built in on camera flash won’t work for this so bring your flash unit with directional control (tilt/rotate) if you would like to try. Also, if you would like to volunteer, please know how to put your flash in the manual mode and adjust the output. The set-up we will use is not camera brand specific so Canon, Nikon Sony etc. are all fine for this. We will be discussing direction, color, quality and intensity of light sources among other topics.
If you would like to volunteer to have a chance to try all this out, please let Roger Lancaster (roger “at” thelancasters.us) know asap. First come, first served.
We also need a few folks to volunteer as “models” who can pose for the various exercises (no pay unfortunately). Let Roger know if you are willing to do this. No special clothing or makeup required.
