SUMMARY:Member's Gallery (Print) (In Person) - Memories from More Than 25 Years of Photography with Patricia Deege
DESCRIPTION:Patricia Deege\n\n\n\nBio\n\n\n\nPatricia has been a member of NVPS since the late 1990’s. Before then\, she had a good Nikon film camera but little knowledge of the “how to’s” of photography. F-stops\, shutter speed\, depth of field\, etc. –what did that mean?  Starting as a total beginner\, she learned much of her photography craft through attendance at weekly club meetings and numerous photography workshops. From the film era she graduated to the digital age and has enjoyed additional inspiration from all the amazing new techniques and software. Her current camera gear is the mirrorless kind and she has enjoyed being able to get closer to her subjects with lighter-weight zoom lenses\, often without using a tripod. \n\n\n\nDescription\n\n\n\nNature has ever been Patricia’s major love\, be it flowers\, landscapes\, or wildlife but sometimes she focuses on street photography and the abstract. Converting an older Nikon camera for infrared photography opened up another venue for exploration. She is always looking out for that unexpected photo opportunity. SUMMARY:Member's Gallery (Print) (In Person) - Mostly Birds with Clark Barker
DESCRIPTION:Clark Barker\n\n\n\nBio\n\n\n\nClark’s first real camera was a used 35mm fixed lens Voigtlander\, followed by a Minolta SRT101 after college and gainful employment. After a couple more Minoltas\, a digital 8 megapixel Olympus and several Canons\, he went mirrorless with a Canon R5 the first day it was available. Most of the pre-digital photos were 35mm slides. \n\n\n\nClark’s past photographic experience was mostly as a tourist taking snapshots of interesting places visited and photos of his son and daughter when they were children. He still enjoys taking travel photos and has expanded to birds\, other wildlife and macro photography. \n\n\n\nClark joined NVPS in 2015 which led to vastly improved comprehension of the impact of shutter speed\, aperture and ISO on the photo\, as well as an appreciation for composition.  He was the class two color print Photographer of the Year for 2016-2017.  He uses Lightroom/Photoshop CC and Topaz for post processing.  He cuts his own mats to mount photos printed with an Epson P800 printer and has recently transitioned from using mostly luster type paper to using matte paper.  Description \n\n\n\nAll images by Clark Barker:

SUMMARY:Member's Gallery (Virtual):  (In Person) The Places I Visited in 2024 with Kieulan Nguyen
DESCRIPTION:Bio\n\n\n\nKieulan Nguyen \n\n\n\nKieulan Nguyen has been a photographer for a long time\, and her work consists of macro\, landscapes\, travel\, street photography and black & white photography. Her approach to photography is using her camera to find beauty in the things and people around her. She uses different techniques such as high key\, intentional camera movement (ICM)\, long exposures\, and multiple exposures. Currently\, she is working on a black and white project and hopes to be able to present it to NVPS in the next year or so. \n\n\n\nAt the end of December of 2021 Kieulan retired from government and became a full-time photographer and digital artist. She now enjoys travelling to different countries with her family and friends to capture the beautiful landscapes as well as people’s lives and interactions via street photography. \n\n\n\nDescription\n\n\n\nIn this presentation\, Kieulan would like to show the lives of many Cubans who still live as in the 1950s. She will also show the beautiful street art from places she’s been in Chile; the bustling life in La Paz\, Bolivia; and the unforgettable grand landscape of the Uyuni Salt Flats in Bolivia. \n\n\n\nKieulan lives in Virginia and also volunteers with The Vietnamese Photographic Society of Northern Virginia\, with which she’s been involved for the last ten years. It has been a wonderful experience for her\, because she likes to give back to the Vietnamese community through teaching and encouraging others to learn the art of photography.  \n\n\n\nAll images by Kieulan Nguyen:
