This iconic site offers stunning landscapes\, historic structures\, and dramatic skies—perfect for capturing powerful images and practicing your craft. \n\n\n\nWe’ll explore scenic trails\, historic monuments\, and wide-open fields that witnessed two major battles of the Civil War. Whether you’re into landscape photography\, architectural shots\, or storytelling through images\, this trip offers countless artistic opportunities. \n\n\n\nThe Manassas Battlefield Park offers many different trails and paths\, as well as a driving tour to different areas of the park. You may wish to review the information and maps available on the Park Website: Manassas National Battlefield Park (U.S. National Park Service) \n\n\n\n📅 When: Saturday\, September 20\, 2025 8:00 AM – 10:00AM \n\n\n\n(Rain date: Sunday\, September 21\, 2025\, 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM) \n\n\n\nNOTE: Sunrise will be 6:56 AM on Saturday. For any hardy souls that wish to arrive early and capture sunrise\, Manassas Battlefield has open spaces that provide great opportunity for such pictures. \n\n\n\n📍 Where:Henry Hill Visitor Center \n\n\n\n6511 Sudley Road \n\n\n\nManassas\, VA 20109 \n\n\n\nPark Website: Manassas National Battlefield Park (U.S. National Park Service) \n\n\n\n🎟️ Admission:Free \n\n\n\n📸 Equipment & Notes: \n\n\n\n\nBring your landscape lenses\, typically 24-70mm and 70-200mm.\n\n\n\nRemember to bring a polarizer and a graduated ND filter so you can capture all the details in the land and sky in one shot without compromising on details.  A ND filter may also come in handy around Stone Bridge or Memory Gardens as they both have water features.\n\n\n\nTripods are permitted and encouraged.\n\n\n\nWeather will be temperate.  The morning afternoon will start cool\, but may turn cooler warmer as the sun rises into the sky sets.  Again\, we’re looking for clear horizons\, high clouds\, and perfect photogenic weather.\n\n\n\nThe Henry Hill Visitor’s Center is open until 5pm and it has a bathroom in the basement.\n\n\n\n\nPhoto by Seton Droppers\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nFor additional ideas you can view images from a previous visit to Manassas Battlefield Park on the NVPS Galleries pages at Manassas Battlefield – November – Northern Virginia Photographic Society \n\n\n\n👥 Meeting Point: \n\n\n\nWe will meet near the front of the Henry Hill Visitor Center\, possibly take a group picture\, followed by individual or small group walks\, drives\, or hikes to other areas in the park. \n\n\n\nAfter Picture Snack and Discussion: \n\n\n\nFor those that are interested in exploring drinks and snacks we will meet at 10:30 AM at Texas Donuts\, 8130 Ashton Ave #106\, Manassas\, VA 20109 and explore a cup of coffee and a donut or pastry. \n\n\n\nNVPS October 2025 Field TripSunrise at Great Falls Park in Virginia \n\n\n\nIn October we plan on taking advantage of the late sunrise on the last Sunday of the month for a 7:00 AM sunrise field trip to Great Falls Park in Virginia.
