SUMMARY:Field Trip:  Upperville Colt & Horse Show
DESCRIPTION:This event was so much fun last year that we’re doing it again!  Please join us in the beautiful Virginia countryside for the Upperville Colt & Horse Show.  Established in 1853\, it is the oldest horse show in America. There are multiple areas of competition with beautiful horses and riders of all ages. In addition to the main attraction there are artisans and other vendors and great people-watching. And on Sunday there will be a car show with antique cars and muscle cars.  \n\n\n\nThere is pretty much something for everyone to photograph.  Food is available and there are outdoor tables at which to enjoy it. And parking and admission are free! \n\n\n\nMore information about the show can be found here: https://www.upperville.com \n\n\n\nWhen:Sunday June 9\, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (Event starts at 7:30 a.m. and generally goes until late in the afternoon\, so feel free to arrive early and/or stay late.) \n\n\n\nRain date: Saturday\, June 8\, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. \n\n\n\nWhere: \n\n\n\nUpperville Colt & Horse Show \n\n\n\n8300 John S. Mosby Highway \n\n\n\nUpperville\, VA \n\n\n\nParking is at the far end of the showgrounds. See the map below for the parking marked as “General Admission.” There should be law enforcement on the street to direct you if needed. We will meet near Gate 2 (also marked on the map). \n\n\n\nEquipment and Notes: \n\n\n\nYou will be shooting subjects both near and far\, so either a long-range lens (28-300\, for example) or two lenses (24-70 and 70-200\, or ideally 300mm+\, for example) would serve you well. \n\n\n\n*No flash photography is permitted. \n\n\n\nIt may be hot and sunny\, so bring water and sun protection. \n\n\n\nThere are porta-potties throughout the showgrounds. \n\n\n\nHere is a map of the showgrounds:
