Member’s Gallery: (In-Person, Slideshow) – Wildlife of the World with Richard Distlerath
May 26 @ 7:45 pm – 8:00 pm
Bio
Starting in grade school with a science project to build a pinhole camera, Richard’s photography endeavors cascaded into a full darkroom where he developed and printed black & white images as well as processed color slides. Photography became lean during his New Jersey working years, after which the digital age brought about a whole new learning curve. Richard credits Ralph Lee Hopkins from Nat Geo as his first mentor in the digital world.
Description
Richard and his wife Linda have traveled the world to see the beauty of wildlife and of nature itself. His slideshow depicts big cats, birds, class D killer whales, the narwhal, and other species in the Arctic and Antarctic, Africa, Iceland, and North and South America. Some of his images show a pair of animals displaying typical behavior, some present portraits. All are shown in their natural environment, as Richards enjoys photographing wildlife perfectly adapted to its surroundings.
