Field Trips: Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens

May 14, 2022 @ 9:15 am 12:00 pm

Spring has sprung and it’s time to capture some flowers at one of the nicest gardens in the country: Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Richmond, VA.  The garden is comprised of 82 acres and contains more than a dozen themed garden areas, a conservatory and a large lake.  In May you can expect to see roses (with 2,000 blooms in the rose garden), peonies and azaleas in bloom, among many other flowers.  The garden also has a café and gift shop. On the day we will be visiting they will be having their annual spring plant sale and there will be live music and more than 40 vendors selling plants.

Where:

Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden
1800 Lakeside Avenue
Richmond, VA 23228

COVID precautions:

At the time of this writing, the gardens strongly encourage social distancing and the use of masks when indoors.

Notes:

Driving time is a little over 2 hours from Fairfax, Alexandria and Arlington.

There are three large parking lots off the main entrance to the gardens.   Restrooms are located in the visitor center and at three other locations in the gardens.  The website contains a good map of the gardens.

We will meet in front of the visitor center at 9:15 a.m.  Anyone who would like to have lunch together before heading home or as a break from shooting can meet in front of the garden café at noon.

We hope you can join us!
