Well, the summer of 2022 is upon us and all the opportunities it will present to each of us, as photographers, in the crafting of our skills and those chances to capture those fleeting moments.  

Looking back at the 2021-2022 Northern Virginia Photographic Society (NVPS) club year I am impressed by the quality of images that each of you brought to the club.

What drew me to join NVPS, back in 2012, is the uniqueness of this camera club compared to others in the DMV area.  Our large membership (over 200) has a vast array of photographic experiences (from novice to professional), we meet every week, and offers each month to its members: speakers and judges from outside the club, education and training, competitions, member’s forum and gallery, mentors, portfolio reviews, and monthly field trips.  We even have our own Facebook (FB) site (Northern Virginia Photographic Society Social Group).  We are truly a model by which other camera clubs should emulate and all of you should be justifiably proud of what we’ve created.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the membership of NVPS for your confidence in electing me and the other nominated board to serve you during the 2022-2023 season.  I would be remiss if I didn’t thank my predecessor, Judy Graham, and her enthusiastic staff of volunteers for their outstanding service to NVPS and for putting together an awesome 2021-2022 season, in spite of COVID-19.  Judy, you have passed on to me a “very large set of shoes to walk in”; I will do my best to fulfill those duties over the next year.

In late June the Board (nominated and appointed) and Senior Advisors will meet to discuss how the club will operate in the 2022-2023 NVPS season.  Stay tuned.
