The last European trip that Wayne and Judy Guenther took prior to Covid restrictions was in November, 2019 when they travelled with Road Scholar. While this wasn’t a photography workshop, there were many opportunities to photograph the richness, beauty, and history of the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Amalfi Coast on the southwestern shores of Italy. They share their experiences and images from the quaint town of Sorrento to the excavated ruins of Pompeii and including the luscious colors of the local food and cuisine.

Wayne Guenther began his photography avocation in the late 1960s but became increasingly involved with Art Photography in the mid-1990s. Membership in Gallery West and the Art League (both in Alexandria, VA) nudged him to regularly create new work and develop a style.  In 2009 he was a charter member and President of the Workhouse Photography Group (Lorton, VA) and remained active there until 2012 when he fully retired. Wayne joined NVPS in 2015. He has been accepted in many regional juried art competitions/shows over the past 25 years, and placed in several NVPS monthly competitions.

Wayne shot with Nikon equipment for many years until the aggregate weight on his back and shoulders became problematic.  He switched to the micro-four-thirds system in 2014 and uses Olympus E-M1 bodies and a combination of Olympus and Sigma lenses.

Judy Guenther admits to being primarily a travel photographer. She loves shooting a variety of subjects while traveling, depending on where in the world she happens to be. From landscapes in the Palouse and National Parks, to water and ice in Greenland and Antarctica, to wildlife in South Georgia Island and Montana, to local portraits and street photography, and finally to amazing architecture. She has been a member of NVPS since 2015, is a member of the F11 Women’s Photography Collective, the Art League in the Torpedo Factory in Old Town Alexandria, and the Maryland Federation of Arts in Annapolis, MD. She has received several awards including at the Nature Visions Expos (now Mid-Atlantic Photo Visions) People’s Choice Award in Photo Art and Best in Flower Photography in the Nature Category.
