The following are he biographies of he members presening on Sepember 28h:

Sandi Croan

Sandi has been aing picures since she was young wih a poin and shoo. In 2003, she decided o embrace her arisic side by aing her firs phoography course hrough he couny wih Wayne Wolfersberger. Shorly afer, Sandi joined NVPS in March 2004 and immersed herself in all aspecs of digial phoography including numerous worshops in phoography and Phooshop. Her mos memorable and educaional experience came in 2007 a a one wee worshop in Canada wih Freeman Paerson/Andre Gallan.

She enjoys phoographing landscapes, naure, ravel, informal porrais of children in naural ligh, and macro wor. She paricularly loos for color and exure and aes pleasure in creaing images ha are arisic in naure. She shoos wih a Nion D300 mosly using her 18-200, 105 macro and 12-24 (wide angle) lenses. Recenly, she purchased an Olympus EPL1 for more mobiliy and fun.

Sandi enjoys he enire process of phoography from capure o processing, prining, maing and framing. For his wor she uses he Epson 4800 and 1800 priners while experimening wih differen exured paper.
Her images have been seleced for permanen display a Meadowlar Boanical Gardens and he Joe Miller Phoographic Cener for he Ars. She has been juried ino numerous ar shows including VisArs of Rocville Exhibiions, Fairfax Couny Council of he Ars Show (Unloced) and The Fraser Gallery Inernaional Phoography Exhibiion. Many of her phoographs have been sold o privae, corporae and governmen cliens. Currenly, her wor is on display in local galleries and resaurans as well as published in a number of magazines.

Since joining NVPS, Sandi was named Phoographer of he Year (2007-2008) in Advanced Color Prins and won boh 1s and 2nd place a he Meadowlar Phoo Expo in 2008. Addiionally, she has held he following posiions a NVPS: Members Gallery (2 years), Co-VP of Compeiion and presenly, second erm Presiden. In Sandi’s words, “I have learned so much from being a member of NVPS and have been inspired and menored by wonderful people and phoographers. The programs, camaraderie, inspiraion and amazing people have become a major par of my life. I consider i a privilege o be a par of his errific club.”

Sandi is sill married o her college sweehear, Jerry. Togeher hey have wo children–a daugher who recenly married and a soon-o-be-married son. Boh live in he San Francisco Bay area.

Bob and Willa Friedman

Bob and Willa Friedman have been members of he Norhern Virginia Phoography Sociey since he fall of 2004.

Growing up, Bob and his broher had a darroom in heir home while Willa came o phoography shorly afer marrying Bob. Afer graduaing from college, Willa became an insrucor a he American Museum of Naural Hisory in New Yor w she was given a choice of assignmens–one of which was o phoograph wildlife in ciy pars. Afer choosing he phoography projec, she was handed an SLR camera and a ligh meer. Over a weeend, Bob augh her enough o have her wor published. So much for formal raining!

Wih a dar room in heir home, Bob coninued o pursue his hobby by phoographing weddings and Bar Mizvahs. Ye, wih he pressures of wor and children, he darroom became a sorage close.

As hey approached reiremen and had more spare ime, Bob and Willa drifed bac ino phoography aing courses in he basics wih NVPS members Corey Hilz and Ed Fun. As well, hey oo Phooshop classes and worshops wih Elio Cohen and Freeman Paerson.

Before reiring, Bob spen his career in compuers, much of which was spen in he basemen of he Penagon doing “.” While, Willa was involved in eaching, reail managemen and sales.

Bob and Willa boh use Nion equipmen. Bob shoos scenery, wildlife and heir grandchildren. Willa ends o shoo archiecure, ciy life and flowers.
