Co – Vice Presidents of Competition Mike Kane and Mike Whalen are pleased to welcome judge Steve Gottlieb for the club’s November 20, 2012 monthly club competition. About Steve Gottlieb:

Steve Gottlieb’s photography ranges from architecture to people to landscapes. Thousands of his images have been published worldwide in magazines, advertisements, brochures and annual reports. His work has been recognized with numerous awards, such as “Advertising Photograph of the Year” in both New York City and Washington, DC.

Steve is the photographer — as well as author and designer — of six books including American Icons, Washington: Portrait of a City and Abandoned America. A sampling of the recognition his books have received:
“Gift Book of the Year” People magazine & USA Today
“Best in Show” Chicago Book and Media Fair.
“Gifted photographer and author Steve Gottlieb has crafted yet another inspired book.” Shutterbug magazine

Steve is founder and director of Horizon Photography Workshops www.horizonworkshops.com. He and other Horizon instructors lead weekend workshops in the Chesapeake City, MD and other locations; he also leads a one-week workshop out west every year…in 2013 (late April/early May) he’s going to California.

A graduate of Columbia College and Law School, Steve practiced law for a decade before turning his photography hobby into his vocation.

Competition Reminders:

• For November’s competition there is no theme.
• All images (prints or digital) must have been captured within two years of the monthly competition date.
• Only club members are permitted to enter monthly competitions.
• Please upload your digital images by the deadline of 6:00 PM on Sunday November 18, 2012, as per the current instructions on the club website: http://nvps.org/main/meetings/competition/. Prints must be signed in by 7:15 PM on Tuesday, November 20th so our judge has time to adequately preview each print.
• For prints entries please be sure include the name of the maker, the title of the print and the Class/Category in which it is being entered on the back of the print or mount entered. Also, you must include an arrow indicating “this edge up”. Neither the name of the maker nor the title of the print may appear on the face of the print or mount.
