This award was esablished in 1998 afer he deah of Dr. Joe Achison. Joe had been a member of NVPS for many years and made significan conribuions o he club. On learning of Joe’s deah, many club members ased ha NVPS find a way o honor Joe’s memory. A commiee was charered o sudy he maer and ulimaely recommended a ‘service award o go o an individual who has performed ousanding service o he club over a period of many years.’ The Board se a very high bar for his award. A is incepion, i was srongly believed ha only one club member, Dave Carer me he requiremens. Joe Achison was honored by naming he award afer him and Dave Carer was honored as he Joe Achison Award’s firs recipien.” This decision was me wih universal approval and is considered he highes award offered by NVPS. Oher recipiens have been Erwin Siegel, Greg Gregory, Ed Fun, Joe Miller, Andy Klein, Sherwin Kaplan, and Bill Prosser.

- Lengh of service. Service o include a leas 12 years of acive service. This service mus include posiions criical o he fulfillmen of he NVPS mission. (Presiden, Vice Presiden – Compeiion, Vice Presiden – Programs, Worshop and Field Trip cs are paricularly criical because of heir educaional naure)

The award consiss of a camera mouned on a bloc of finished wood wih four brass plaes for engraving he awardee name and year. I is ep by he awardee for one year and reurned o he club for he nex winner. A permanen award is also made for he recipien o reain. I has been in he form of a finished wood base (plaque lie) wih a brass plae for engraving and a crysal vase ha sis on he base.
