The Distinguished Service Award was established in 2010 to honor volunteers who make significant contributions of service to NVPS. Awardees are selected by the current President. This year 3 individuals were selected by NVPS President Georgette Grossman that she felt were deserving of the Distinguished Service Award.
Willa Friedman
Willa has served on many Board positions for NVPS. Beyond that she is among the first to volunteer to help the organization:
She was at the banquet to help set up the print display
She has provided many educational programs. My favorite was her B/W presentation where she shared her personal tips and tricks for creating spectacular B/W images.
She has served as an advisor at the Ask Me a Question table and is always there to help fellow members solve their photographic problems.
Willa, thank you for your Distinguished Service to NVPS.
Bob Friedman
Bob, too, has served in many Board positions for NVPS. Like Willa, he is among the first to volunteer to help the organization. I think it runs in the family!!
Bob headed a multi-week self-improvement field trip to Green Spring Park. It explored visual design topics from the Freeman Patterson book Photographing the World Around You.
He implemented the switch to the Keurig coffee system for our weekly meetings.
He, too, has served as an advisor at the Ask Me a Question table, helping new photographers solve their “gotcha” questions.
Bob, thank you for your Distinguished Service to NVPS.
Jeff Hancock
Where would NVPS be without Jeff?
As he does in our monthly competitions, was at the banquet running our projector so we can see our digital award-winning images.
At every NVPS meeting Jeff provides quick visual reinforcement of whatever a speaker is saying. He ads humor to our meetings (where are the exits???)
He never gets rattled when thing go wrong but rather focuses on a solution.
President Georgette Grossman call him “my Magic Man!”
Jeff, thank you for your Distinguished Service to NVPS.
