Sandi Croan Wins Best in Show at Meadowlark
Caught     Best in Show
SandiCroan_Caught-sm.jpg On a beautiful summer day, I was sitting on my deck and saw this glowing orb at the edge of my property. I walked down there and saw that it was a tent caterpillar web on a tree with leaves caught in it illuminated by the setting sun. I ran to get my camera and my tripod and got a few shots in before the light changed. Who could ever say that a tent caterpillar web was a beautiful thing of nature? Mostly, they are destructive and ugly. But on that day, in that light, it was beautiful to me.

Golden Morn   2nd Place
This fall, I went on a field trip to West Virginia with my photo club, Northern Virginia Photography Society (NVPS). That weekend boasted some of the most spectacular scenery I have ever witnessed. The colors were unusually intense. On the last morning, just before sunrise, I set off with two of my photo friends in glorious fog. We stopped so many times during the next few hours and the fog just hung in there for us. Just after sun-up, we came upon a foggy scene with the sun rising behind a solitary tree and two deer resting on the hill nearby. Golden Morn is one of my favorites of all time.
