June 5th & 6th, 2010 - Arlington Rose Foundation Photography Contest
The Arlington Rose Foundation (http://www.arlingtonrose.org), serving Northern Virginia, D.C. and Southern Maryland holds its 54th Annual Rose show and photography competition on Saturday and Sunday, June 5 and 6 at Merrifield's Garden Center on 12101 Lee Highway, Fairfax. The 2010 winner will receive a beautiful trophy and will be in our newsletter and next year's rose show catalog. Categories are: A. One bloom, any specimen B. One spray, any specimen C. Rose Garden (arbors and garden ornaments permitted, but no people in the garden) D. Abstract/Artwork Generated picture of any rose-related activity Rules are: 1) A maximum of two photographs per class, per entrant. 2) Photograph size shall be at least 3 1/2 x 5 inches and no larger than 5 x 7 inches; glossy or matte finish 3) Photographs must be taken by the entrant/amateur photographer utilizing standard or digital equipment 4) Identify each photograph with exhibitors name, address, class, and name of rose or location on entry tag 5) Judging by Horticulture Rose Judge/ Photographer. Photographs will be judged only on photographic excellence, composition and with an emphasis on the beauty of the rose. 6) All amateur photographers who are members of the American Rose Society, a rose society or any garden club are cordially invited to exhibit their photographs. Membership to Arlington Rose Foundation is only $15 for one year. 7) Entrees may be received by 9:30 am on the morning of the Rose Show At Merrifiled's Garden Center, Lee Highway, Fairfax, Virginia 8) ARF requests that photographs which have won in other contests not be entered. |
