Apr 16th, 2009 (closes) - Friends of Banshee Reeks, Inc. Sponsors Photo Contest
Leesburg, VA--September 4, 2008--Friends of Banshee Reeks, Inc., is proud to announce their first photo contest, Banshee Reeks: Nature's Oasis, Give Us Your Best Shot!
Banshee Reeks is a 700-acre of nature preserve that is operated by Loudoun County Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services. It is supported by the Friends of Banshee Reeks, Inc., a volunteer, nonprofit organization.
The preserve strives to protect natural habitats and wildlife populations, to conduct and coordinate ecological, historical and other scientific research, and to provide the public with an opportunity to enjoy and learn from this unique reserved area.
Photographic opportunities abound in forested, hillside, meadow, wetland and streamside landscapes. An abundance of flowering plants and trees provide a constantly shifting palette of colors throughout the year and around any bend in the trail. Wildlife species can present unexpected opportunities and challenges for both the professional and amateur photographer.
Capture the pictorial wonders that Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve has to offer! Come visit Banshee Reeks on the weekend (8 am - 4 pm every Saturday and Sunday) to discover the landscapes, wildlife, and vegetation that only this unique Loudoun County jewel exhibits.
This contest runs September 1, 2008 to April 16, 2009. Cash and gift certificate prizes will be awarded. Guidelines are available on-line at
