Top Awards for NVPS Members at Nature Visions 2011 Expo - Northern Virginia Photographic Society

Two NVPS members won top honors at the Nature Visions 2011 Expo, November 12-13, at the Hylton Performing Arts Center, George Mason University.

Susan Phillips' image "White Peacock Display" was awarded Best in Show honors and Tom Brett's "Single Beach Grass" was third runner-up. These images were among 854 total images submitted from the six Northern Virginia photo clubs for the Expo and two of 300 juried images. The awards were presented by the Expo's keynote speaker, Art Wolfe, world renown travel and nature photographer. Art's photo documentary, "Journey's to the Edge" appears frequently on WETA and other PBS affiliates.

Pat Lonergan's "Great Horned Owl Pair" received Art Wolfe's merit award and a vendor award from REI. Other vendor awards included Susan Breen's "Orange Moon" awarded by Photocraft; Beth Morris' "Inner Beauty" awarded by Tamron and Susan Phillip's Toward the Setting Sun-Bull Moose" awarded by Olympus.

Congratulations to these members. Their achievements not only brings recognition to them for their excellent work, but also to NVPS.
