It is being predicted that with the cooler weather, the swine flu and other influenza viruses will be rampant this year. It is hard to predict how hard we will be hit and when. We each have a responsibility to be considerate of our friends and fellow NVPS members. If you are ill or feel like you are coming down with something - please stay home. There are many members or their loved ones who are in frail health. The flu, or its secondary infections could be life threatening or fatal. We want you to share your photography, but not your germs. 

 

Symptoms of swine flu include fever, lethargy, lack of appetite and coughing, which are all symptoms of the human influenza virus. Some people have also reported runny nose, sore throat, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Good health habits like covering your mouth when you cough, sneezing into the crook of your elbow, and washing your hands, are some of the best ways to prevent the spread of swine flu. If someone you know is sick, avoid close contact and if you are sick, stay home to avoid spreading the disease to others.
