Please come enjoy the 83rd running of the world famous Virginia Gold Cup steeplechase race, Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Great Meadow in The Plains, Virginia! The Virginia Gold Cup is a grand spring tradition as well as a fixture on the social calendar. Run in Fauquier County since 1922 and attended by over 45,000 spectators, this race is one of the largest and most popular sporting events in the greater Washington metropolitan area. Race day features seven hurdle and timber horses races, Jack Russell Terrier races, tent, tailgate and hat contests, a parachute demonstration, and over 30 vendor booths for shopping.
Please take a look at the web site for full details. The races are ongoing all day, with a variety of scattered events such as dog races and parachute drops. It is an event where you bring a picnic lunch, perhaps a lawn chair, your photo gear and spend the day touring the sites, or photographing from our tiered home location rail area. I can have approximately 15-25 sign up for this. Please don't delay or you may miss out!
I have booked a SOUTH RAIL 1 reservation for the NVPS Field Trip. My rail space package includes one reserved rail area 12' x 20', right up front (and near a jump supposedly), three General Admission car passes (which includes up to 6 passengers per vehicle) and six Members Hill Badges. General Admission Car Passes run $75.00 for each additional vehicle, again up to six per vehicle. We can rotate usage of the six Members Hill badges between those attending. Admission and Rail 1 space costs will be split up among those participating. This is an event which will run each attendee somewhere between $33- $40, depending on participation, which does not include food or beverages but will be a wonderful day of great photographic opportunities.
I will supply a pickup truck parked in our area, which will allow photographing from a somewhat higher elevation (two tiers of photographers) and storage of any articles you may wish. I will also provide a table or two for a picnic style lunch. All other vehicles associated with our group will be parked in the general, but very ample parking lots. Bring your lawn chairs, photo gear and picnic.
I suspect this may be a very popular event, so please sign up early!
Be sure to supply your email address and phone number on the sign-up sheet so I will be able to notify you of updates.
Thanks,
Teri Klinkosz
