New! NVPS Welcome Program - Northern Virginia Photographic Society

NVPS is establishing a Welcome Program to facilitate the integration of potential and new members into the club. Through this program we hope to enhance guests' and new members' first experiences with the club. This program includes creating a Welcome Committee comprised of NVPS members to be matched with potential and new members electing to participate in the Welcome Program.

To make this program work, we are looking for volunteers to participate as a Welcome Committee members. See below for what would be expected of Welcome Committee Members. If you are interested in volunteering, please send an email to membership@nospamnvps.org.

Welcome Committee members will be expected to:

• Arrive at meetings around 7pm to be available to be matched to a potential or new member

• Wear a "Welcome Committee" name badge

• Stand within earshot of the greeting area to be available to meet their matched participant

• Greet their matched participants at subsequent meetings

• Encourage potential members to join and new members to keep attending meetings

• If participant is interested, use the mentor list (being developed for 2010) to assist participants in meeting members with similar photography interests and/or skills

• Optional activities could include:

- Inviting participants to sit with them at meetings

- Introducing participants to other members

- Attending field trips with participants and offering insight during trip

- Providing feedback from participants and themselves about the entire membership process to the Membership Coordinator

We will ask the potential/new member to respect the right of the matched member to enjoy the meeting and keep interaction limited to before the meetings and during meeting breaks, unless the matched member agrees to being available at other times.

We are very excited about this new program and are looking forward to kicking off our new year with it!
